Roof Extension Project in Ramsgate, Kent
Project Overview
Buxton and Broadley Renovations Ltd were subcontracted by a builder to assist with the construction of a roof extension. Our team was tasked with cutting and pitching a new roof for the extension, followed by fitting new white soffits and fascias to complete the structure. This project in Ramsgate, Kent, demonstrates our ability to collaborate easily with other contractors, ensuring the job runs smoothly and meets deadlines.
Client Requirements
The client, a professional builder, required us to handle the roof installation for an extension he had already built. Our role was to cut and pitch the roof, as well as fit new soffits and fascias that aligned perfectly with the existing structure. The builder sought high-quality craftsmanship and a professional approach that could integrate seamlessly with the work already completed on site.
Project Scope and Challenges
Roof Installation with Limited Access
The project involved cutting and pitching a single-sided roof up to the existing house wall, creating four Velux window openings, and fitting soffits and fascias to prepare the extension for roofing.
One of the challenges we faced was the limited access on the side of the property. Despite this, we managed to move all materials to the rear of the property, ensuring minimal disruption to the client. Additionally, the typical unpredictable English weather posed a challenge, but our team worked efficiently to keep the project on schedule.
Design and Planning
Precision in Following Architectural Plans
The client’s vision was to have a flat and true roof that would accommodate the chosen roof covering. The design was provided by the architect, and we worked closely with their plans to ensure every aspect of the roof installation adhered to the structural requirements. Our team’s ability to follow complex architectural designs demonstrates not only our technical expertise but also our collaborative skills when working alongside other professionals on a project.
Execution and Work Involved
5-Day Project Timeline
The entire project was completed in just 5 days, which highlights the efficiency and organisation of our team. The work involved included:
Cutting and pitching a single-sided roof, in line with the architect’s design.
Bolting a new ridge timber to the wall, as required by the design.
Bolting double timbers together and using joist hangers to secure all timber joints, ensuring a strong and stable roof structure.
Fitting new white soffits and fascias, adding the finishing touches to the extension’s exterior.
Results and Client Satisfaction
The builder was extremely pleased with our work, noting both the high standard of craftsmanship and our ability to meet the project deadline. Our positive attitude and seamless integration with the existing site work were key factors in the success of this project.
Building Strong Client Relationships
The quality of our workmanship and our professional approach has meant that the client has since returned to us for further projects. Establishing trust and maintaining excellent communication throughout the process are just some of the reasons why our clients continue to work with us for their construction and renovation needs.
